Day Care Service Plan

Statement of Purpose

It is the aim of Guisborough Day Centre to provide a warm, safe and caring environment for its members to enjoy social interaction with other members, mental stimulation and appropriate physical activity. At the same time relatives/carers will be given respite and safe in the knowledge that the members of the centre are being well cared for. It is also our aim to meet any particular cultural or social needs whilst the members are within our centre.

Current Service Plan,

We are a charitable, not for profit organisation. We undertake a number of fund raising events throughout the year, all funds are put back into the organisation. We aim to provide quality care for as many adults who meet the appropriate criteria our premises will allow.

We recognise our Member's rights to self determination and the responsibilities and consequences of unacceptable behaviour. This is covered in our various policies and procedures in the Introduction Information pack that is issued to all potential Members.

All staff are employed with the appropriate skills and level of experience, the current staff team are as follows:

  • Day Centre Organiser: Angela Sewell
  • Assistant Organiser: Janeen Noble

A range of tea/coffee, soft drinks and snacks are provided throughout the day, also provided is a hot nutritional 2 course lunch.  Meal Charges: A daily rate of £5.70 for each member applies. Day Care Charges: A daily rate of £39.00 for each member applies.

We are able to offer transport in our specially adapted minibuses.

Physical Environment

The physical environment of the day care centre has been designed to be accessible, safe, and pleasant, promoting independence and autonomy for all users.

Pre Joining Arrangements

A welcome pack will be provided to ensure that the potential member/carer has received sufficient information to make sure they are happy with their decision to join the centre.

Referrals can be made by a G.P. Social Worker, family or self.

The centre provides all potential members with the opportunity to visit the centre for a day, and are then able to attend on a   six week trial period.

Safety and Risk

Guisborough Day Care Centre recognises that members have a right to take risks in order to extend their opportunities, and are able to choose the risks they want to take and be given support to understand the full implications of choices, in line with the Mental Capacity Act.

Dietary Needs

Meals are provided by an external catering company and are delivered to the centre. The meals provided are varied to meet nutritional standards. Any special dietary cultural or religious requirements are catered for.

Views on Service

Measurements of experience at the Day Centre are undertaken via members and carers questionnaires. Verbally undertaken throughout the year and action will be taken where required and/or appropriate.


Guisborough Day Centre undertakes to ensure that transport arrangements meet the needs and requirements of the Members, as deemed in their individual plan, and also meet the needs of the Day Centre.
